According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, the infrastructure development project at the facility is now 36 percent complete.

CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said the ongoing works include the construction of an administrative building, powerhouse, security fence, frangible fence, service entrance pole and cistern water tank.

The airport development project, he said, also covers runway extension, concreting of the vehicle parking area, and the provision of a drainage system and water line.

Targeted for completion in November this year, the project aims to improve existing airport infrastructure to accommodate larger aircraft, thereby boosting connectivity to and from Palawan.

SVA officially opened to light aircraft in June 2017, while chartered flights from Air Juan were launched a month after.

Seen as the country’s first Flagship Tourism Enterprise Zone, the booming town of San Vicente, a first-class municipality, is home to the longest white beach in the Philippines, an amazing stretch of 14 kilometers spanning the coastline of four barangays.
