Glydel has nothing but good words for ‘KaraMia’ co-stars

Glydel has nothing but good words for ‘KaraMia’ co-starsMika dela Cruz and Barbie Forteza, lead stars of the defunct GMA series KaraMia, have been praised for their impressive performance in the primetime drama. But that was just icing on the cake, being complimented by the public is a great motivation but it’s the real deal when your co-actors are the one giving you all the thumbs up.

Glydel Mercado, who plays the antagonist Julia Garcia in the top-rating series, has nothing but good words for the two young stars. Last week, in an interview with Manila Standard during her renewal of contract with Beautederm Corporation, she praised both Mika and Barbie for their professionalism on the set.

“Some talents, even the senior ones, they arrive on the set without studying their lines and scenes. But Mika and Barbie, apart from they act really good, they always come prepared,” said Glydel who arrived at Annabel’s on Tomas Morato with her husband Tonton Gutierrez, who also renewed his contract with the leading beauty and wellness brand.

“Before and in between takes, you would see them studying their script. I have nothing but great respect for young talents like them. I admire their professionalism considering their age. They must have undergone good training. That’s the kind of professionalism we see from people who stay in show business for a long time,” she added.

While still waiting for some television and big screen assignments, Glydel is going to busy promoting Beautederm products. She and her husband have just signed a two-year contract with the brand.

“We believe in their products that’s why we use them. It’s nice to promote something that you really use,” shared Glydel during the contract signing graced by Rhea Anicoche-Tan, the lady behind the fast-rising brand.

Netflix film to be shot in the Philippines

Independent producer Chris Santiago was ecstatic when he revealed with Manila Standard that A-list Hollywood actors will come visit the country to start the filming of a Netflix movie.

The action film is under pre-production and will feature local actors, too.

“It’s like Argo, only the setting is Manila. It’s an action film and the story revolves around post-Martial Law era where the situation was still chaotic and violent,” Santiago said who added that he’s producing seven titles set for digital release.

“iWant, iFlix and Netflix have been a great help to us. They have given us jobs and more opportunities. In America, they’re opening Amazon and Disney, all those digital streaming apps that allow more people access a wide range of quality content. They’re really helpful,” Santiago said.

Meanwhile, Santiago, who is a member of the Association of Authorized Small-Town Lottery (STL) Agents for Visayas and Mindanao made an appeal after Pres. Rodrigo Duterteordered the suspension of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office games, including STL, Keno, Peryahan ng Bayan, and other popular lotto games.

The President has already lifted the suspension on the lotto games after investigators found no anomaly in its operations but STL remains suspended as of this writing.

“We support the move of the President, it just strengthens the public trust on PCSO and its other operations. If the suspension of STL operations would be lifted, too,  it will be beneficial to those who rely on it as a source of livelihood,” the spokesperson for the Association of Authorized Small-Town Lottery (STL) Agents for Visayas and Mindanao said.

“Illegal betting games are coming back again, and we don’t want that to happen. So we humbly ask the President to consider our request to lift the suspension by having it properly investigated. Our group follows all the rules and regulations of PCSO. Our operation is legitimate and legal,” the spokesperson added.

In a statement sent to the media, the group said that the members are in good standing. They don’t have any shortfall in terms of their remittance to PCSO, and they don’t have any legal, technical or judicial problems.

“We went through proper bidding process and we followed the proper course when we applied for franchise. It’s just sad that more than a million people are getting affected by the suspension,” the spokesperson ended.
