Clark Freeport—Japan is fast becoming a top destination for Filipino travelers, with local visitors hitting over 500,000 in 2018 from 450,000 in 2017, said Japan National Tourism Organization executive director Daisuke Tonai.
Tonai said Filipinos were the second largest group of tourists from Asia, next to China. He expressed optimism the figures would go up with the opening of the Cebu Pacific Airline Clark-Narita flight.
“Since the opening of JNTO office, we have been working with CEB which is very active in promoting Japan,” said Tonai during the launching of the CEB Clark-Narita flight held at the Mariott Hotel here.
Filipinos like to visit Japan because of different sceneries, foods and shopping, and the chance to experience four seasons, said Tonai during an interview with the February edition of Primer Magazine.
Easy access for visa application, he said, was is one of the main factors for the influx of Filipino visitors to Japan.
