Efforts to seek unity from within the executive board of the Philippine Olympic Committee is a work in progress.
Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino said this as he convenes the executive board for another meeting today.
“With or without a quorum, the meeting will be held. I am reaching out to them,” said Tolentino.
Tolentino made efforts to reconcile with other members of the POC’s executive board when he convened a meeting two weeks ago at the Philsports Complex in Pasig City.
But most excused themselves for various reasons, including bad weather, medical issues and other previous appointments.
So far, Tolentino reinstated secretary general Patrick Gregorio.
He also formalized his appointment of Gregorio and his deputy, Richard Gomez, and those of Col. Lucas Managuelod (membership), Atty. Alberto Agra and Atty Billy. Sumagui (legal) and former POC chief Ricky Vargas and (constitutional commission), among others.
The first General Assembly under Tolentino’s watch will be on Aug. 13 will be at the Diamond Hotel on Roxas Blvd.
The POC said he will no longer be the chef de mission for the 2020 Tokyo Olympiad.
And he is expected to about the one that he will appoint to take his place.
