UPCMCAA’s Glory Awards deadline set

The University of the Philippines College of Mass Communications Alumni Association will recognize eight new outstanding alumni at the UP Masscom annual homecoming through the Glory Awards—a tribute to the legacy of UP MassCom’s first dean, Dr. Gloria Feliciano. The UPCMCAA is currently accepting nominations.

Awards will be given to eight alumni achievers in television, print, radio, film, online journalism, research, and allied disciplines such as marketing communications, public relations, social advocacy, and performing arts. Mass communication experts will serve as the jury of the awards.

Outstanding alumni who were already recognized previously by the College and the UP Alumni Association will not be eligible to receive the award.

The distinction was made to honor emerging alumni who have made notable achievements in their field of practice.

The 3rd Glory Awards will be presented on Nov. 9, 4 p.m. at the Plaridel Hall Film Studio. The affair will also coincide with the yearly homecoming bash of UPCMC, a CHED Center of Excellence founded in 1965 as the Institute of Mass Communications in Diliman.

“We want to continue celebrating outstanding graduates of UP MassCom and this is our way of doing so,” said UPCMCAA president Malou Choa-Fagar.

“UP MassCom is proud of its graduates who are committed to delivering the best work in the many fields of communication, whether it is in media, the corporate world or the development sector,” Fagar added.

Last year’s Glory Award winners were: Pedro Chanco, III of the Philippine Star; Dolores F. Cheng, founder of the Center for Possibilities Foundation; Cecilia Victoria “Ces” Drilon, head of the ABS-CBN Lifestyle Ecosystem Group; ABS-CBN Chief of Staff Florida “Linggit” Tan-Marasigan; Jose Ramon D. Olives, former Strategy and Business Development head of ABS-CBN; GMA Network Entertainment Group Senior Vice President Lilybeth G. Rasonable; GMA First Vice President for News Mary Grace Dela Peña-Reyes; Luz Rimban, director of the Ateneo-Asian Center for Journalism; Film Director and Producer Chito S. Roño; ABS-CBN Middle East Correspondent Michelle Fe “Maxxy” Santiago; ABS-CBN News Deputy Editor for Multimedia Fernando G. Sepe, Jr.; and, digital media and measurement expert, Beth Uyenco.

Jurors will evaluate the nominees based on the excellence and impact of their work.
