Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino said he will no longer be the chef de mission for the 2020 Tokyo Olympiad.
Tolentino said after yesteday’s executive board meeting that he will appoint someone else to take his place.
“I was appointed by Mr. (Ricky) Vargas. Pangit naman, kung ako pa rin,” said Tolentino.
The newly-elected POC chief made efforts to reconcile with other members of the POC’s executive board, but most excused themselves for various reasons, including bad weather, medical issues and other previous appointments.
Tolentino confirmed during the meeting of his appointment of Patrick Gregorio as the secretary-general, with Richard Gomez as the new deputy secretary-general.
Col. Lucas Managuelod will now head the membership committee, while Atty. Alberto Agra and Atty. Billy Sumagui will be legal counsels.
On the other hand, Vargas takes the place former POC chief Jose Cojuango Jr. as Constitutional Commission head.
The General Assembly under Tolentino’s watch is to be held on Aug. 13 will be at the Diamond Hotel in Roxas Blvd.
Tolentino had earlier made a call for healing and unity.
Only Chairman-elect Steve Hontiveros was present in the meeting.
