And now that they have four straight wins following a 77-72 beating of the San Sebastian College Stags last Tuesday, the Blazers are seeking to extend their winning run when they meet the defending champion San Beda Red Lions at 12 noon today at the FilOil-Flying V Sports Center in San Juan.

But it will be a tall order for the Blazers, who share the lead with the Red Lions.

“One good thing we had was we only missed a few free throws. What’s important for us is to stick together and find ways to win,” said Blazers coach TY Tang.

On the other hand, the Red Lions are coming off a three-day rest after their 59-73 beating of the San Sebastian Stags.

Red Lions’ coach Boyet Fernandez said he rewarded his boys a long break since they will be facing tougher opponents after meeting the Stags.

“We have not achieved anything yet. We still have to play strong teams. And we will be ready,” said Fernandez.

A triple from James Pasturan and two charities from Unique Naboa in the last two minutes allowed the Blazers to grab a 76-72 edge in the dying minute of their game with the Stags.

The Lyceum Pirates, behind in second at 5-1, battle the Arellano University Chiefs at 4 p.m. while San Sebastian College takes on Perpetual Help at 2 p.m.

Earlier, the San Beda Red Cubs will go for their fifth straight triumph when they clash with the La Salle Greenhills Greenies at 8 a.m. in the junior side.

In other junior games, The Emilio Aguinaldo College-ICA Brigadiers, finally picked up their first win with a 75-69, stunner over the Jose Rizal University Light Bombers at the JRU gym in Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong.

Joshua Balowa shined with 22 points for the Brigadiers (1-5) while Eli Ilustrisimo added 14 points and seven rebounds.

“This is a good morale-booster for us. Sana, magtuloy-tuloy na talaga para sa amin,” said Brigadiers coach Azlie Guro.
