Sex therapist, best-selling author, clinical psychologist, and columnist Dr. Margarita Holmes is back with her unbridled and sometimes irreverent advice on sex as she collaborates with HOOQ for the first time.
Her new digital show, which is streaming on HOOQ FREE PLAY, is called, well, Sex Talks.
Sex Talks with Dr. Holmes takes a humorous but informative approach to addressing key issues around the topic of taboo. Every episode includes a funny personal short film involving depictions of real-life dilemmas and questions sent to Dr. Holmes.
Through creative reenactments, animations, and straight-to-camera conversations, Dr. Holmes offers her own form of candid albeit expert advice. The series has a raw and natural feel to it, based on the themes of these real-life stories.
“It’s our entry point to the international market that’s why I’m so excited,” Dr. Holmes said during an intimate press conference held last week.
“In addition to the facts, it’s just a perspective so that hopefully it will help you understand where you are. Talk shows, I think are very good. You can only go as far and you can only go as deep as your guests are. I am very thankful in a way that this show presents the problem.”
Dr. Holmes is a professor of psychology at undergraduate and graduate levels, and has taught at universities in the Philippines and the United States. She is currently a columnist at Playboy, rappler.com, Abante, and Abante Tonite, as well as a Psychology professor at the Graduate Program of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.
In her illustrious career, Dr. Holmes has written 20 bestseller books, the best known of which are Life Love Lust, the first book written on love and sex in the Philippines and Down to 1: Depression Stories, the first book written about clinical depression in the country. Her most recent books include Love Triangles and Imported Love, which she co-authored with her husband Jeremy Baer.

DZMM’s ‘Todo-Todo’ turns 15; ‘Good Job’ premieres
There are many reasons why ABS-CBN’s flagship AM radio station DZMM, which is celebrating its 33rd anniversary this year, has remained on top. One of these is its combination of insightful, relevant, and informative discussions and its desire to serve the public, which are both always present in its programs.
Two great examples are Todo-Todo Walang Preno of Ariel Ureta and Winnie Cordero, which is now on its 15th year, and new program Good Job anchored by Danny Buenafe and Rica Lazo.
Like its veteran anchors, Todo-Todo remains a hit not only among its listeners and viewers but also with award-giving bodies. It recently won Best Variety Program for Radio at the 27th KBP Golden Dove Awards.
The program is famous for segments like “Sabi ng Lolo Ko,” where Ariel talks about positive Filipino values like respect for elders and love for country and “WinWin Solutions,” where Winnie is able to share tips and practical solutions to usual problems of mothers like her.
Also favorites are “Todo-Todo Kuro Kuro” and “Todo Kwentuhan Kasama Ang Mga Sikat,” where their great personalities and experiene in broadcasting shine even more as they take on a variety of topics from showbiz to family issues.
Despite the show’s success, the two are still relentless in enhancing the program, even as they have also brought their partnership to television as two of the regular hosts of Umagang Kay Ganda.
“We work hard to give our audience new perspectives every day and with every year that passes. We strive to keep them interested, because even our loyal listeners will get bored if we become repetitive with our messages, however beautiful and positive these may be,” Ariel said.
Winnie added that they remain inspired to deliver joy and new knowledge to Filipinos. “The time spent on sharing my insights, to be a giver of news and information and spread laughter and humor to our audience every day, is my precious privilege.”
Just like Ariel and Winnie, DZMM’s new tandem of Danny and Rica are eager to serve Filipinos through their show “Good Job,” which aims to help Filipinos ensure the future of their families by helping them find jobs that are suitable to their skills and needs, and giving them information that will equip them in achieving and sustaining a good status in life.
Danny Buenafe is a Kapamilya news legend who served as news bureau chief of ABS-CBN in the Middle East and Europe. His partner Rica, is no pushover as well, as one of the few ABS-CBN anchors who are present in multiple platforms. Currently, she is part of both DZMM and ANC.
According to Danny, he is able to use the network he has built in his decades of experience as a broadcast journalist in gathering and reporting information on job vacancies and opportunities here and abroad. Rica added they will also be interviewing and featuring people from relevant government agencies, various industries, and local officials to help them in their advocacy.
The two believe that the program, which is airing for just over a month now, will be instrumental in helping Filipinos give a better life to their families.
Rica shared, “With all our responsibilities, we can no longer be complacent. If you are looking for opportunities, tips, and inspiration to keep you motivated at work, this is the program for you.”
“As time goes by, the program will give hope to our fellowmen. It will give them options as to where their talents and skills will truly shine, and where they will also be paid well, added Danny.
Catch Ariel Ureta and Winnie Cordero in Todo-Todo Walang Preno from Monday to Friday at 3:00 p.m., and Danny Buenafe and Rica Lazo in Good Job every Saturday at 2:00 p.m. on DZMM TeleRadyo and DZMM Radyo Patrol 630, which also won Best AM Radio Station at the recent 2nd Animo Media Choice Awards.
