Iriga turns back Taguig, 93 to 91

Iriga City overcame a 25-point deficit to beat Taguig, 93-91, last Saturday in the National Basketball League Season 2 at the Philippine Christian University gym in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Jester Olea drilled a triple with 15.7 seconds left after Terence Tumalip pulled off a chasedown block for the game-winning plays and allowing the Oragons to grab a 92-91 lead.

Tumalip and Eric Bernales finished with 17 points each, and Olea had 13 points for Iriga City, which improved its record to 7-4 following the come-from-behind win in which the Oragons trailed 82-57 early in the fourth period.

The Generals slipped to second place with a 9-3 win-loss record.

Meanwhile, reigning champion Parañaque won its fourth straight game with a 74-67 win over CamSur last Sunday at the Hagonoy Sports Complex in Taguig City.

Noy Bermudes chipped in 14 points, and JR Galit had 13 points, six rebounds, and four steals for the Aces, who now have a 10-3 win-loss record heading into the homestretch of the elimination round.

The Express now have a 7-4 record and are now in a four-way tie for sixth place with the Oragons, Imus, and Dasmariñas.
