Another milestone in the history of the municipality of Compostela in Compostela Valley province is set on Aug. 1, 2019, coinciding with the 13th Buganihan Festival with the theme:  “Kayang-kaya Basta Maghiusa, Kalambuan Maangkon ‘Ta.”

This captures the indomitable spirit of inclusiveness which is a relevant concern pervading in the Compostela Valley province at this time.

Compostela successfully rose from hopelessness and struggles between the forces of nature in 2012—with the devastation left by typhoon Pablo and years of labor unrest.

Its people together with the continuous collaboration from entities such as the Labor Department, the Agriculture Department, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and the Oplan Pagbabago of the provincial and local government units, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, the Land Bank of the Philippines, service providers/cooperatives, landowners, workers and leading banana exporter Sumifru Philippines Corp. have formed another corporate social responsibility project to be launched on the said event.

“Compostela Tulong Pangkabuhayan” is a sustainable livelihood community development program intended for 450 displaced workers from the recent labor dispute which is a positive action plan of above-mentioned entities in keeping with peacebuilding and the achievement of progress in Compostela.
