Infant and toddler specialist and consultant Patricia Franco-Velasco will lead a discussion on providing responsive care for infants and children during the Mommy Matters parenting convention on August 3.

The parenting convention, organized in cooperation with the Breastfeeding Committee of the Philippine General Hospital, chaired by Dr. Stella Marie L. Jose, will serve as a comprehensive resource of non-traditional knowledge that will empower parents, whether they’re first-time or experienced ones.

Mommy Matters will discuss vital aspects of parenting through its plenary talks on breastfeeding and kangaroo mother care, led by Dr. Maria Estrelita Uy; and child immunization, to be discussed by Dr. Anna Lisa Ong-Lim. There will also be a talk on parenting in the digital age.

In addition to PGH physicians, other esteemed personalities such as Chef Michelle Adrillana will address issues on proper nutrition for mothers, along with teacher Patricia Franco-Velasco, who will talk about providing responsive care for infants and children.

Mommy Matters is an event under Phi Lambda Delta Sorority’s flagship project Milk Matters.

The organization has, through Milk Matters, organized milk drives and public health lectures, established community-based milk storage facilities in partner communities and served as a source of breastmilk for the Philippine General Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit patients.

It also aims to involve itself in the development of health policies that support sustainable and community-based milk banks. Milk Matters has so far collected over 330 liters of breastmilk, reached out to over 500 mothers, and established partnerships with four communities in its five fruitful years.

Ticket for Mommy Matters parenting convention is priced at P1,000. Visit tinyurl.com/MommyMattersReg to register.
