Manila Electric Co., the biggest retailer of electricity, issued a new bidding notice to buy 500 megawatts of power for mid-merit requirements over a five-year period.
This is the third invitation to bid published by Meralco in compliance with the competitive selection process, or the public bidding requirement, in the procurement of power supply.
Meralco is mulling over a fourth invitation to bid within the year. The first three Meralco notices covered 2,900 megawatts of electricity supply.
Meralco said in the latest invitation to bid that the minimum capacity offer per bidder should be at least 100 MW.
Meralco said bidders should be able to start supplying the capacity requirement by December 26, 2019 from a mid-merit or a single or portfolio of power plants that adjust output according to fluctuations in demand.
