Drug lords may be sitting in UN rights panel

The United Nations Human Rights Commission resolution against the Philippines merely dramatizes how useless the international body and its members are.

We should not recognize and accept the legitimacy of such resolution by a UNHRC minority vote and which are based on utter lies and fake news on human rights violations.

The Geneva-based UNHRC clearly advocates the cause of criminals, particularly the illegal drug traffickers, instead of the human rights of the poor victims of drug menace.

In fact, it is not far-fetched if some of those country representatives who voted against the Philippines’ anti-illegal drugs campaign turn out to be drug lords themselves.

It is not surprising to note that some of the countries of those UN representatives who voted to call a UN inquiry into the alleged “extrajudicial killings” actually have worse illegal drugs problems, such as Mexico, Peru and other Latin countries.

These countries, which are notorious for producing and manufacturing illegal drugs like opium, marijuana, cocaine  heroin, and crystal meth (shabu), are actually the suppliers of such illicit drugs to European countries that also voted against the Philippines.

Mexican drug cartels, like the Sinaloa cartel, Juarez  cartel and other factions rival those of Colombia and Peru in trafficking illegal drugs to the United States, Europe and Western Africa.

The Mexican drugs mafias have strongly influenced and controlled their government institutions, including the national police and military.

Uruguay, which has a population less than half that of Metro Manila, also voted yes to the UN probe, has actually legalized the use of  certain types of addicting drugs so no wonder it is against shutting down the drugs industry.

The UNHRC resolution also shows how Duterte’s political enemies, particularly the liberal opposition, effectively use black propaganda and yellow journalism to sow lies about the country’s anti-crime and anti-illegal drugs drive.

No less than the country’s Vice President has shamelessly engaged in the smear drive against the Duterte administration and the Philippine National Police.

The Filipino people are aware of the State enemies’ desperate tactics to involve international bodies, such as the UN to meddle in our internal affairs, and to try to discredit, destabilize and dethrone the Duterte administration.

With heads held up high, we certainly will not allow that.
