He will join other members of the national pool when they see action in the 2019 Asian Championships in Vietnam.

A slot in the men’s 67-kg kumite is at stake for him, when he plunges into action in the meet set from July 19 to 21 in Can Tho, Vietnam.

“Babalik po ako. Gusto kong mag-qualify sa SEA Games,” said Tacay.

Tacay, along with Jayson Macaalay settled for two silver medals in the men’s kumite 67 and 60 kilogram divisions, respectively, back in 2017.

Tacay lost to Thailand’s Supa Ngamphuengphit, who came back from a 3-5 deficit to win the gold medal, 6-5.

Last year, Tacay had to undergo rehabilitation for a right knee ACL injury.

He got injured while competing in the semifinals of the Philippine National Games in Cebu City.
