This corner features pets of animal lovers every week. We hope new owners and those thinking of getting a pet will be encouraged to be responsible “furparents” through these features. We also hope more people will be moved to be kind to animals when they read about the great relationship that can be created between humans and animals.

MIMIW is a six-year-old pusang Pinoy or puspin who brought love into the home of Kela de Dios.
“She just came into our lives. She went inside our home and never left since then,” Kela says.
Kela thinks Mimiw “might have felt really safe and secured. Mimiw found a forever home.”
“She loves to play with her hoomans and brushes herself on our legs to make her presence felt, “ Kela shares.
“When it's meal time, Mimiw would jump on the dining table to join us. She loves fish and scrambled eggs,” she adds.
Mimiw blends well with her dog siblings, Kela says.
“We love her so much!” adds Kela.
DON DON was rescued in a way by the father and sister of Cheryl Jullienne Villar. They took pity on him, forcing them to buy the poor pup who was then being sold while on a vehicle under the scorching heat of the sun.
“He was placed on top of a tricycle and was being peddled in our area when my Dad and sister saw him pretty worn off and tired. They decided to buy him, “Cheryl recounts.
Don Don was named after Cheryl’s father, Domingo N. Villar.
“After several visits to the vet for deworming and vaccines, Don Don got sick and had to be force fed. We took turns taking care of him, “ Cheryl recalls.
“After 14 days, he regained his appetite. He recovered and we were all so glad he did, “ Cheryl says.
Don Don is “a very intelligent dog and he is very protective of us. When a burglar got inside our house, he barked nonstop and stroke my Mom’s arm (my Mom fell asleep and left the door open) with his paw repeatedly until she woke up. This made the burglar leave our home,” Cheryl shares.
“He was just a little pup when this happened. At that young age, he already knew what danger meant, “Cheryl notes.
Don Don has had many medical challenges and overcame all of it.
At five years old, Dondon had episodes of collapsing due to the excitement, Cheryll says.
No medicine was recommended. Instead, “we were advised to ensure he had exercise and to simply make him relaxed, “ she says.
After two years, the episodes suddenly disappeared.
Recently, at seven years old, the vet found a tumor in Don Don’s organ.
“No chemo medicine was available then and we patiently waited for the vet's call for months. We kept praying for the tumor to go away and heal, “ Cheryl recounts.
“Miraculously, the tumor decreased in size, “ she adds.
Don Don also underwent an ear operation due to hematoma.
The Villar family is so happy Don Don overcame all his medical struggles and still brings love and joy in their home.
“Dondon enjoys chicken, beef, rice and a little dog food. He loves tricycle rides and lots of sleep. He is well known in our area because I walk him everyday,” Cheryl says.

“We make sure to celebrate his birthday every February 19th. He is my little brother and I will forever be his big sister, “ adds Cheryl.
