During my first up close and personal encounter with Matteo Guidicelli, Sarah Geronimo was not yet his inamorata. So, it’s still difficult to picture him skinhead because I always remember this young man, whom I interviewed for a book about Wenn Deramas, having this boy-next-door look.
During our short and sweet conversation, Guidicelli considered the late director not only as a mentor but as a “mother” of sorts and felt fortunate that Deramas trusted him to be part of drama or comedy television or motion picture under his tutelage.
As a matter fact, the former director was his person to reach out and talk to when it comes to advice that concerned love and its many kilig and tribulations, Guidicelli shares.
Since that initial encounter, in the many showbiz events he is part of and gets the opportunity to see me, Guidicelli is always cordial and gives out his sweetest smile, as he inquires, “How are you?” like you are his friend rarely seen. His act of asking is an indicator of his sincerity and congeniality as the Filipino Italian matinee idol who makes all of us giddy.
I don’t get every day from actors and performers—a genuine query about your day, welfare and what have you been doing lately—it feels good that you know, there is someone like him who treats you well.
In an Instagram post, he discloses a little bit of his Scout Ranger training as: “trained like a panther, silent, swift and fearless.”He adds in an interview as well that his family and beloved Geronimo were not so keen on the idea of him joining the Rangers because of his showbiz career.
In the end, he gained their respect and support because the be all and end all of this training is, “I love my country.”
When news came out that he is the newest brand ambassador of Primera Light Brandy, this eventuality, of course, is a no brainer.
Guidicelli reveals: “I like engaging myself into extreme sports such as sky diving, car racing, and triathlon. You know, I like adventurous stuff. I like trying new things and facing my fears all the time. I like the adrenaline high and challenging myself, that is why I do all these things. If I feel can’t do something, I will do it.”
Being a Guidicelli is, of course, no walk in the park. Prior to his scout ranger training, to say that he has a hectic schedule is an understatement—managing his Italian restaurant, attending to his showbiz commitments and being a dutiful and loving boyfriend to Geronimo.
How does he unwind then?
“I like to hang out at my restaurant, to chill and have a couple of drinks. My dad is my drinking partner. Of course, we drink in moderation.”
Without an iota of doubt, Matteo Guidecelli is living proof that when Prince Charming becomes for real, it is like him. Indeed, maturity becomes him.
