‘Ang Probinsyano’ beats premiere and finale of rival shows

Viewers nationwide continued to choose ABS-CBN as their source of relevant news and uplifting TV shows as the network recorded an average audience share of 44 percent or a 12-point lead against GMA’s 32 percent, according to data from Kantar Media.

ABS-CBN’s dominance in the nationwide ratings is reflected in the list of most watched programs in June where Kapamilya programs secured nine slots with FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano on top with 37.3 percent.

The action drama is still also the most watched program in the country after beating both the premiere and finale of its new and old rival programs in national TV ratings.

The Coco Martin-starrer series opened the month of July strongly as it hit a national TV rating of 37.5 percent last Monday (July 1), compared to Sahaya (18.7 percent ).

The Kapamilya series also won last Friday (June 28) as it recorded 35.6 percent, or a 14.1-point lead against Kara Mia’s final episode (21.5 percent).

Angel Locsin’s The General’s Daughter clinched the second spot with 30.8 percent, followed by Search for the Idol Philippines (28.3 percent) that has started the weekly elimination of its top 12 hopefuls.

TV Patrol (27.7 percent) remained as the choice newscast of viewers, while the inspiring real-life stories featured in Maalaala Mo Kaya (26.8 percent) led the drama anthology to retain its spot in the most watched programs list.

Viewers also continued to turn to Kadenang Ginto (23.7 percent) every afternoon, while weekend shows Hiwaga ng Kambat (22.2 percent), Home Sweetie Home Extra Sweet(21.8 percent), and Rated K Handa Na Ba Kayo? (19.6 percent) kept viewers entertained for the whole month of June.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN also won all time blocks in June, particularly in primetime where it recorded an average audience share of 45 percent, compared to GMA’s 33 percent. The primetime block is the most important time of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertisers put a larger chunk of their investments in to reach more consumers effectively.

Likewise, ABS-CBN also ruled the morning block (6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon) with an average audience share of 39 percent, versus GMA’s 28 percent; the noontime block (12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.) with 44 percent, beating GMA’s 33 percent; and the afternoon block (3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) with 48 percent, compared to GMA’s 31 percent.

The Kapamilya network also conquered the urban and rural areas as it registered 42 percent versus GMA’s 26 percent in Metro Manila; 36 percent versus GMA’s 32 percent in Mega Manila; 40 percent over GMA’s 35 percent in Total Luzon; 53 percent versus GMA’s 24 percent in Total Visayas; and 52 percent versus GMA’s 28 percent in Total Mindanao.

Multinational audience measurement provider Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100 percent of the total Philippine TV viewing population.
