F2 Logistics faces Sta. Lucia, eyes 6th win

Silay City—Powerhouse F2 Logistics seeks to sustain its blazing streak when it tackles struggling Sta. Lucia in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference Thursday at the Natalio Velez Sports and Cultural Center in this beautiful city in Negros Occidental.

Action erupts at 4:15 p.m. with the Cargo Movers looking for their sixth straight victory in this prestigious women’s tourney bankrolled by Team Rebel Sports, SOGO, Eurotel, PCSO, Cocolife, UCPB Gen, Mueller, Senoh, Asics, Bizooku and One Sport.

Meanwhile, Cignal aims to bounce back when it faces Generika-Ayala in the second match at 7 p.m. of this encounter that has ESPN5 and Kapatid TV5 as broadcast partners.

Since claiming Filipino-Spiker Kalei Mau from the disbanded United VC, the Cargo Movers were never the same again as they won their first five matches, including big wins over reigning champion Petron and heavy contender Cignal.

Against the HD Spikers, the Cargo Movers showed that they are capable of regaining the crown.

Mau fired only 10 points, but it didn’t matter as other stars like Ara Galang, Aby Marano and Majoy Baron shone to tow F2 Logistics to an easy 25-22, 25-19, 25-14 victory.

Still, F2 Logistics coach Ramil de Jesus is far from satisfied.

“It’s not about the record. Yes, we have a perfect card so far, but we’re still playing in the eliminations. It’s still a long way to go,” said de Jesus, who led the Cargo Movers to the All-Filipino title in 2017.

“I told the team to keep on playing hard. The playoffs will be a different ballgame so we have to build momentum in this early part of the conference.”

On the contrary, the Lady Realtors are bleeding for form.

After winning over rookie team Marinerang Pilipina in the opener, the Lady Realtors struggled,  as they absorbed four consecutive loses despite a star-studded roster of MJ Philips, Amy Ahomiro, Rebecca Rivera, Amanda Villanueva and Pamela Lastimosa.

Their last game was very forgettable as the Lifesavers crushed them, 12-25, 23-25, 26-28, in front of a banner crowd at the Cadiz City Arena in Cadiz City.

But de Jesus won’t take the Lady Realtors lightly.

“We prepared for Sta. Lucia the way we prepared for Cignal,” said de Jesus, an 11-time University Athletic Association of the Philippines champion mentor for De La Salle University.

“We will be ready for them.”
