The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines announced on Wednesday it is recruiting a new set of officers who passed the qualifying examination last May.
Of the 1,063 individuals who took the Comprehensive Air Traffic Service Course held in several CAAP testing centers nationwide on May 25, only 111 passed the exam.
CAAP chief information officer and spokesperson Eric Apolonio said the successful examinees are set to undergo an interview process and will be selected through a medical exam before being confirmed as qualified for the training course.
The eight-month-long training will have three phases of studies which include subjects such as basic navigation, meteorology, the rules of the air, safety management systems and an introduction to ATFM (air traffic flow management).
The trainees will also get to know and familiarize various air traffic facilities such as the Aerodrome Control Service, Approach Control Service, En-route/Control Service, and the Aeronautical Information and Communication Service.
Apolonio said the training of the aspiring Air Traffic Management Officers will be free of charge but will not come with an allowance.
Through the authority’s CATS Course, which is now on its 14th batch, the CAAP aims not only to promote the industry of aviation as a career option but also to support the International Civil Aviation Organization’s New Generation of Aviation Professionals initiative.
