Senator Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr. hosted a thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday night at Frabelle Corporate Plaza, Makati City. The gathering was attended by his relatives, wife Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado, and his children led by Vice Governor Jolo Revilla, who arrived at the venue with fiancee Angelica Alita.
In a casual interview with the entertainment press, the 52-year-old actor-politician couldn’t hide his happiness. Smiling from ear to ear, he talked about his challenging journey from the Detention Center of Camp Crame, where he was detained for more than four years, to his successful bid to the Senate.
“It was such a difficult journey. You could just imagine from Crame to Senate, talagang up to this point in time, I still can’t believe that I’m here,” Senator Bong said smiling.
“Especially when we took oath in front of the President, it was a different feeling. I was asking myself ‘Is this really true? Am I dreaming’ That’s what I am feeling right now,” he carried on thanking the 15 million voters who helped him realize his Senate bid.
Referring to his detractors, Bong said that he has already forgiven them and now that he’s back in the Senate, he just wants to concentrate on more important things like the projects and bills that he wants to spearhead.
“Hindi po ako bumalik sa Senado para gumanti. I’m back to work and be of service to the people who elected me. The reason why I’m here is because of God. Hindi Niya ako pinabayaan, and of course my family,” he said underscoring the role that his wife and his children play throughout his challenging journey.
Meanwhile, his lips were tight when asked about the chairmanship of the Committee on Public Information and Mass Media. He just said that it will be given to the person who is perfect for the job.
