Rivera brothers dominate Slalom

A perfect 1-2 punch was delivered when local and international race aces Milo and Estefano Rivera reigned supreme during the 4th leg of the 2019 Phoenix Pulse National Slalom Series held last Sunday at the Robinsons Antipolo complex.

This time, however, the younger Estefano got the best of Milo around the technical, condition-changing race course after clocking a winning time of 44.34, with the latter only achieving a 45.00 best run.

Power Base completed the Top 3 podium with a 45.13-second finish, while Jevoy Moreno (45.18) and Rod Chang (46.16) finished 4th and 5th, respectively.

Estefano’s win further extended his overall championship lead as he chases his first National Slalom crown, while Milo, who is the reigning 5-time Slalom king, shared how happy he is with his second-place finish.

“It’s been quite a while since I last raced on a slalom track. To be honest, it feels like home. And to produce a relatively good result alongside my brother makes it even sweeter. I do believe that this year should be his and he truly deserves to be on top. I hope he retains his momentum so that the crown can stay in our house for at least another year,” said the Petron-backed Milo who is currently focusing on GT circuit racing this year.

Aside from Estefano’s full-time slalom season and Milo’s circuit racing comeback, the brothers have also set their sights on endurance circuit racing as they have been tapped by AutoPerformance Motorsports for a full season onboard their BMW M3 race cars.

In addition, Estefano is also a front runner in the 2019 Giti Formula V1 season under Obengers racing team, and Milo is looking forward to international races starting July with the 2019 Asia Auto Gymkhana Championships, among others.

“It is going to be a very busy season for the both of us, and we’re really thankful for each opportunity. I guess the best way to show our appreciation to those who have continued to help, support, and make us race is to give our all to produce the results we desire. So we’re looking forward to the season ahead and let’s see how things go,” said a jubilant Estefano.
