Media giant ABS-CBN cemented its commitment to serve Filipinos with love on the Philippines’ 121st year of independence with a special commemorative flag-raising ceremony, which aired yesterday after Umagang Kay Ganda.
The event paid tribute to the resilient spirit of the Filipino even in the face of hardship, tragedy, and calamity. It also recognized and celebrated the individuals who have stood with ABS-CBN to extend help to millions of Kapamilyas in need through the company’s various public service efforts over the past 65 years.
In his speech, ABS-CBN chairman Mark Lopez thanked all the donors, partners, and volunteers who shared ABS-CBN’s mission to be of service to Filipinos since the beginning.
“Together we help children have better nutrition, access to education, and freedom from abuse, and help parents have access to more livelihood opportunities and better health. In times of tragedy, we stand together to help our fellow Filipinos through our rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts,” Lopez said.
“We also take care of our forests, our seas, and our lands for future generations. To the best of our abilities and with the help of our kababayans, we will continue to help Filipinos achieve their dreams for the next 65 years because every Filipino is a Kapamilya,” the executive added.
Viewers can also help fellow Filipinos achieve the dreams of every Filipino family through advocating environment and safety, children’s rights and education, and livelihood and health. Leading the pledge on Independence Day were ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, together with ABS-CBN Integrated News and Current Affairs head Ging Reyes, ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc. (ALKFI) managing director Susan Afan, and Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. president Rina Lopez Bautista.
Hosted by TV Patrol anchors Noli “Kabayan” De Castro and Bernadette Sembrano, the ABS-CBN Flag-Raising ceremony featured the world-renowned singing group TNT Boys, who led the singing of “Lupang Hinirang” and performed a new song by National Artist Ryan Cayabyab alongside singing group The Company.
Also present in the flag-raising ceremony were ABS-CBN COO of Broadcast Cory Vidanes, ABS-CBN Films Productions Inc. managing director Olive Lamasan, and some Kapamilya artists.
The flag-raising ceremony has been an annual tradition in ABS-CBN, where employees and staff from the company’s various regional stations in the country, news bureaus abroad, and subsidiaries participate.
