Rev. Fr. Anton Pascual, executive director of church-run foundation Caritas Manila urges the public to help those in need, both spiritual and material.
Radio Veritas 846’s public service program called Good Samaritan helps the Catholic Church and its foundations to gather information and connections from different organizations, individuals, and institutions, that altogether help those in need, particularly those in poverty.
Good Samaritan also serves as a haven for the people asking for help from the charitable public to overcome their illnesses and other needs through interviews, phone patches, and text messaging.
In the past year, the program has reached out to 6,071 areas nationwide. GSP, through the help of good-hearted individuals, institutions, and organizations, was able to provide medical assistance such as medicine and equipment, laboratory services, food/crisis prevention and preparation equipment, burial/wake assistance, clothing, institution referrals regarding concerns, medical and dental checkups, and missions, and livelihood assistance.
Good Samaritan was able to collect donations around P5,896,551 in both cash and in-kind from various individuals, institutions, and organizations.
