Pasig falls to Riga Ghetto in Tinkoff Moscow tourney

Pasig-Chooks to Go took on world no. 3 Riga Ghetto for the second time in two months and absorbed a 17-21 setback with 2:06 left in the game.

The loss put the Filipino team out of contention in the 2019 Tinkoff Moscow Challenger.

Pasig finished its campaign with a 0-2 record in Pool C.

Their first setback came when they suffered a 14-21 loss to Belgium’s Antwerp earlier in the day.

Taylor Statham and Dylan Ababou led Pasig’s strong start with a 4-0 spurt against Riga.

But the highly experienced Latvians displayed patience, with the trio of Nauris Miezis, Kārlis Lasmanis, and Agnis Čavars unloading nine unanswered points to put the Doha Masters winners on top.

After that, the team had two confrontations, with Statham being called for an unsportsmanlike foul and Joshua Munzon getting a technical foul.

Statham and Munzon then led a rally that allowed them to cut Riga’s lead.

Munzon had seven points to pace Pasig.

A dunk by ÄŒavars sent Riga to just two points away from sealing the game, 19-13
