After working with JM de Guzman in the hit afternoon soap Araw-Gabi, Barbie Imperial says she doesn’t want to work with him again anytime soon because of their personal problem. In fact, she turned down an offer which will pair her again with the actor.
In a recent interview, the 23-year-old actress said that she feels it’s not yet time for her to work opposite her former leading man.
“I believe it’s better to wait for the right time. I don’t want to hurry on things. We are not okay to begin with,” she states.
Prior to the interview, Barbie posted a cryptic message on her social media account which read, “Once a liar, always a liar!”
This came out after JM appeared in the top-rating showbiz-oriented talk show Tonight with Boy Abunda in which he revealed that he tried to pursue Barbie after they did Araw-Gabi.
“I got hurt when he said that we dated for just one month. As far as I’m concerned, it’s more than that. But for him, it was just one month,” Barbie points out and further says that she and JM had lots of problems in the past and these do not only concern their career.
“It has something to do with our past relationships which still needed to be fixed. Actually, it’s not simple. It’s possible that he pursued you seriously. It’s also possible that he pursued you while he still has involvement with another person. Then it’s possible too that he pursued you as if he wants to hurt you again. What’s definite is that he pursued me,” she carries on.
“So from there, you can see that both of us are like two shattered or broken individuals who are trying to make each other whole again. But I realized it’s not that easy. It’s hard. Ideally, one should be whole to fix another person who is shattered. How can you fix the other individual when you yourself isn’t fixed in the first place? How can you restore order in yourself given that scenario, right?”
This is the reason why Barbie maintains that at this point, she can’t be friends with JM.
In another development, the search for the next “Darna” is heating up. It was learned that she’s one of those who were advised to audition for the plum role.
“It’s simply flattering to be considered for the part. If it will be given to me, then I’ll grab it. Although personally, I prefer to play Darna’s main nemesis, Valentina. I think it’s equally challenging,” Barbie avers.

From ABS-CBN, Aiko Melendez moves to rival network GMA via the upcoming series Prima Donnas.
“I consider it a new blessing. Being a single mother, this is really a very encouraging development. I thank the Kapuso management for their trust,” she says.
Although she’s now a Kapuso, the actress still expresses her gratitude to the Kapamilya.
“I’ve been with ABS-CBN for nine years and I will forever be thankful to my big bosses there who believed in my talent and casted me in many of their soaps. I grew as an actress with all the opportunities they’ve given me. I wouldn’t reach my present stature without their help. Anyway, this is a small world and I’m certain that in the future, there’s still the possibility that I’ll work with them again.”
As of now, Aiko is excited with this new phase in her career.
“I’m really looking forward to be playing a big part in GMA’s latest afternoon soap,” she exclaims.
The soap is directed by Gina Alajar and will also reunite the seasoned actress with Wendell Ramos.
“There’s also Ms. Chanda Romero and of course, Kapuso tween stars Jillian Ward, Althea Ablan, and Sofia Pablo. By the way, the name of my character is Kendra so watch out for me!” ends Aiko.
