The embassies of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden in Manila, in partnership with SM Lanang Premier, SM Cinema, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines, recently collaborated for the very first Scandinavian Film Festival in the country.
All three Scandinavian ambassadors – HE Ambassador Jan Top Christensen of Denmark, HE Ambassador Bjorn Jahnsen of Norway, and HE Ambassador Harald Fries of Sweden graced the launch at SM Lanang Premier in Davao City.
They were joined by guests from the diplomatic corps, business groups, film communities based in Davao and its neighboring provinces, and movie lovers who were treated to an exclusive screening of the festival’s award-winning inaugural film, Rosita.
The festival featured over twenty curated films from various genres that gave audiences a glimpse of the Scandinavian way of life on the big screen. From sailing the great seas in Kon-Tiki to generating awareness on the effects of climate change with Warmer, the film festival catered to audiences of all ages. Exhibits from the Embassies and the FDCP were also mounted for a more in-depth look at the cultures of the participating countries.
This film festival is one of the many exciting cultural activities at SM Lanang Premier.
