University of Santo Tomas will keep the overall championship for a third straight season.
This is after UST amassed 282 points in the senior division at the close of the 81st University Athletic Association of the Philippines season.
UST’s feat came as league officials from National University turned over the league’s hosting rights to 82nd season host Ateneo de Manila yesterday.
This will be UST’s 43rd overall crown since 1958.
So far, UST won titles in seven events throughout the season in men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s table tennis, women’s athletes, men’s and women’s judo.
La Salle, with 260 points, was second, followed in third by Ateneo with 237 points.
The Green Archers took the no. 2 spot on account of championships won in women’s chess, poomsae, men’s baseball and men’s football.
This also includes the no. 2 finishes that La Salle had in women’s beach volleyball, men’s swimming, women’s table tennis and women’s tennis, men’s fencing and men’s football.
Ateneo landed third after taking crown on seven fronts.
This included men’s baseball, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s swimming, women’s badminton, women’s fencing and men’s football.
University of the Philippines placed fourth (237), while National University, Far Eastern University, University of the East and Adamson took 5th, 6th,7th and 8th positions, respectively.
In the junior division, UST claimed the overall honors for the fifth straight season with 80 points, while La Salle Zobel ranked second with 77 points.
Ateneo was in third (72), while NU has 66 points in fourth.
