Anti-crime pol group boosts lead further

The party-list group Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) has surpassed two million votes in the latest partial and official count of the Commission on Elections.

ACT-CIS is leading all party-list groups with 2,147,970 votes, based on the certificates of canvass from 107 out of 130 clustered precincts counted by the Comelec sitting as the National Board of Canvassers as of Friday night—more than a million votes ahead of Ako Bicol, which has 980,443 votes.

Of the 181 party-list groups that ran in the May 13 elections, at least eight were able to get at least 2 percent of the total number of votes cast for the system, giving them at least one seat out of 61 allocated for them in the House of Representatives. This means ACT-CIS, which has veteran broadcaster Erwin Tulfo as the first nominee, will have three seats in Congress.

Militant party-list group Bayan Muna came in second with 4.03 percent of the votes, which is good for two seats.

The other party-list groups that met the minimum requirement of 2 percent for one seat are Ako Bicol (3.83 percent), CIBAC (3.36 percent), Ang Probinsyano (2.77 percent), 1Pacman (2.58 percent), Marino (2.43 percent), and Probinsyano Ako (2.28 percent).

Using Comelec’s algorithm, all the party-list groups that got at least 2 percent of the votes also stand to get a second seat. The rest of the 59 seats will be distributed to the other party-list groups based on the votes they garnered.

Others in the party-list top 10 based on the 107 COCs are Bayan Muna (864,333 votes), Citizens’ Battle Against Corruption or CIBAC (725,753), Ang Probinsyano (616,217 votes), One Patriotic Coalition of Marginalized Nationals or 1-Pacman (572,885), Probinsyano Ako (509,924 votes), An Waray (421,050 votes), Senior Citizens (415,308 votes) and Association of Philippines Electric Cooperatives (382,122 votes).

Marino party-list is 11th with 374,924 votes, followed by Abono (374,088), Gabriela (364,006), Tingog Sinirangan (362,286) and Ako Bisaya (347,917).

Party-list organizations that garnered more than two percent of the votes will be granted additional seats proportionate to the total number of votes they earned. A winning party-list group, however, cannot exceed three House seats.
