The team never lost a single game until Game 1 of their best-of-three finals series.

“This time, there was a time na bumaba kami sa laro namin. Pero, when we reached our goal. It was a sweet triumph,” said Reyes.

Reyes and her teammates were guests yesterday at the weekly PSA Forum at the Amelie Hotel in Ermita, Manila.

The Blaze Spikers claimed the championship after getting past F2 Logsitics, 26-24, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19, in Game 3 at The Arena in San Juan.

Their first loss in the season came from their 20-25, 25-16, 23-25, 23-25 setback to the Cargo Movers in Game 1.

And many felt that it was a wakeup call for the team.

Team members were new at such an experience and they needed time to soak it in.

“Na-realize namin na ito pala ang wakeup call namin,” added teammate Remy Palma.

During the game, prolific imports Stephanie Niemer and Kath Bell took charge for the Blaze Spikers as they clinched their sixth overall title in the league.

Niemer, who was hailed MVP, showed the way with 31 points.

“Simpleng team ito. Sabi nila, malakas ang Petron. Pero, hindi namin nilagay sa mind namin ito. Kailangang mag-work hard ang team,” said coach Shaq delos Santos, who is steered the Lady Blaze Spikers to their fourth title with him around.

The Lady Spikers are now getting ready for the All-Filipino Conference, which will happen from June 15 to Aug. 24.
