Manila councilor pleads for support for ‘Team Legacy’

Manila City 4th district reelectionist councilor Don Juan Alonzo Bagatsing on Sunday appealed to voters to support all the candidates of Team Legacy of Mayor Joseph Estrada, who he said were all dedicated to deliver honest service to their constituents.

“Our priority is giving free health services and decent jobs to the Manileños, to help them have better lives and promote progress in the city,” said Bagatsing.

Estrada earlier said his slate was dubbed “Team Legacy” because he wants to leave a good legacy to his prospective mayoralty heir—the 71-year-old uncle of Bagatsing, former 5th district congressman Amado Bagatsing.

This developed as Don Juan, also known as DJ, was included in the Magic 6 for Manila councilor, based on the latest survey conducted by Ipoll Inc.

The survey, conducted from April 10 to 15 with 2,000 respondents, revealed that 99 percent of residents in the Barangay of Sampaloc in Manila have known DJ as councilor.

Residents also remembered Bagatsing’s achievements and accomplishments as councilor from 2010 to 2016.

The young Bagatsing thanked his supporters and voters and asked Manila residents to vote for other candidates under their party.

Cristal Bagatsing, daughter of Amado, is also seeking another term to represent the 5th district in the House of Representatives.

According to Don Bagatsing, the family spokesperson, should they win in the coming local elections, they will help in promoting the programs of Mayor Estrada.

“We are confident that Manileños will help us and support our programs for a better Manila,” he said.

The Bagatsing family is supported by four organizations with at least 200,000 strong members.

These includes the Kabalikat ng Bayan sa Kaunlaran (KABAKA), Asosasyon ng Nagkakaisa at Aktibong Kabataan (ANAK), Asosasyon ng Barangay Kagawad ng Maynila (ABAKA) and Service Investment Good Government Leadership Action (SIGLA).
