Navotas sets more tech-voc courses

Following the inauguration of its third training center, Navotas now offers more technical-vocational courses to Navoteños.

Mayor John Rey Tiangco and Rep. Toby Tiangco, together with Vice Mayor Clint Geronimo and other city officials, Monday led the blessing and inauguration of the NAvotas VOcational Training And Assessment (NAVOTAAS) Institute Annex II at Brgy. Daanghari.

“Our tech-voc courses are free for Navoteños. All they have to do is enroll and attend the training. After graduating from the program, they may also take the assessment exam for free,” Mayor Tiangco said.

“Tech-voc skills are in demand here and abroad. While we cannot hire everyone who is interested to work at the city hall, we hope to provide opportunities to Navoteños so they could have gainful livelihood,” he added.

Courses at the NAVOTAAS Institute Annex II include Food and Beverage Services NC II, Cookery NC II, Barista NC II, Hilot (Wellness Massage), and Massage Therapy NC II.

Also available are Contact Center Services NC II, Housekeeping NC II, Bread and Pastry Production NC II, Beauty Care NC II and Hairdressing NC II.

Enrollment is ongoing and classes will start in April this year. Interested applicants may enroll at the NAVOTAAS Institute-Main Building at the Navotas City Hall Compound.

“NAVOTAAS Institute is TESDA-accredited [Technical Education and Skills Development Authority] that is why have scholarship grants to trainees,” Tiangco said.

The institute also provides NavoHusay soft skills trainings including values formation seminar, basic English proficiency seminar, employability skills training, entrepreneurship seminar, and Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) Seminar.

Navotas is set to open two more training centers at Brgy. North Bay Boulevard South-Dagat-dagatan.
