The City Government of Caloocan together with the Caloocan Cultural and Tourism Foundation, Inc. (CCTF) join forces once again to stage the prestigious Miss Caloocan beauty pageant.
On its 5th year under the leadership of Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan, 21 lovely and talented ladies hailing from different barangays in Caloocan will compete for the crown and the title as Miss Caloocan 2019.
This year, the City of Caloocan and CCTF is in search for a goodwill ambassador that embodies traits that could positively influence others and promote women empowerment.
“We want to take beauty pageantry to a new level wherein the winners will not only be the tourism ambassadors of the city, but they will also be our voice in promoting our advocacies and women empowerment,” said CCTF Chairwoman Kathleen Mendoza.
In line with this, the City Government of Caloocan is already working on several programs for the title holders to better advocate for women empowerment. Some of these programs would include seminar on the rights of single mothers and livelihood training for women with disabilities.
Apart from pushing for the city’s advocacies, Miss Caloocan’s primary role is to promote the city, its tourism, and the many talents of the people of Caloocan. And the Miss Caloocan pageant itself has been an avenue for Caloocaños to showcase their talent and creativity.
The City Government of Caloocan and CCTF tapped well-renowned make-up artist and true-blue Caloocaño Jojie Simpaoco to be one of the candidates’ make-up artists while celebrity and beauty queen designer Bea Bianca will dress all 21 candidates.
“We have so many amazing talents in Caloocan and we think that Miss Caloocan is the perfect way for us to exhibit their artistry,” Mendoza proudly explained. “Our priority is to collaborate with them in all our programs and promotions to show everyone how proud we are that these brilliant people are from Caloocan.”
Hosted by Kapuso star Derrick Monasterio, Miss Caloocan’s Grand Coronation Night will be held tomorrow, March 2, 7:00 p.m., at the Caloocan Sports Complex. Entrance is open to the public and seats are on a first come, first serve basis.”‹
