It will be speed against size in the coming Philippine Basketball Association All-Star Game 2019.
The starters for the annual All-Star meet to be held on Mar. 31 in Calasiao, Pangasinan were named yesterday.
Giants June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel Beer and Greg Slaughter of Barangay Ginebra will lead the South’s charge along with rejuvenated James Yap of Rain or Shine, Scottie Thompson, also from Ginebra, and Mark Barroca of Magnolia.
Over at the other end, spitfires will spearhead the way for North with the Hotshots’ Paul Lee and the Gin Kings’ LA Tenorio.
They will be joined by Ginebra’s Japeth Aguilar, San Miguel’s Marcio Lassiter and Phoenix’s Calvin Abueva.
With Fajardo and Slaughter once again at the helm for a twin-tower combination, South will definitely have a significant size advantage.
However, quickness and athleticism will most certainly be on the North’s side with speedsters Lassiter, Aguilar and Abueva.
Prior to the game, the other All-Star festivities will be held beforehand.
This year’s All-Star has reverted back to its old format of holding the games in just a single venue. The festivities are scheduled from March 29-31.
For the last two seasons, the league had brought the All-Star weekend nationwide, hopping from Luzon, Visayas to Mindanao.
