The Chinese woman who splashed "taho" on a Mandaluyong policeman at a Metro Rail Transit station recently surely would not have committed the same offensive behavior in any other country.
There’ s no way 23-year old student Zhang Jiale, who held a questionable Special Retirees Residence Visa, would committed a similar offense in countries such as the United States, Japan, South Korea or in Indonesia.
She knows what would have happened to her had she done the same abuse on, let’s say, a cop in Saudi Arabia or a law enforcer in China, for that matter.
She is aware of the harsh punishment she will definitely get in those countries.
The said incident starkly shows how lowly we Filipinos are regarded by some people of other countries, commanding less respectability.
We are simply too friendly to visitors that sometimes we fall victims to such treatment even in our homeland.
Just as Filipinos are known all over the world for our uniquely excessive hospitality to our guests, some visiting foreigners tend to think they can just mistreat us in our own country without fear of any severe consequence.
This is true in many instances at the airports, at hotels, at the workplace and on the streets that some of these visitors look down on us like animals.
Thus the “taho incident” is not the first of such type of assault on an agent or a person of authority. It happened before and it will definitely happen again if we don’t do anything about it now.
It’s about time we show the world that we cannot be bullied in our own soil.
One thing for sure, if it didn’t get that much media attention that went viral, the Chinese woman might not have ended up in detention for splashing taho on the cop who stopped her from bring it in the train.
This undesirable alien deserves to be deported as soon as possible, her questionable student visa cancelled, and permanently blacklisted.
Let’s show her that she is not welcome in this country.
