The Department of Transportation said it expects to issue the original proponent status to three conglomerates for their unsolicited offers to operate and maintain airports in the Visayas and Mindanao this month.
“There are three airports “• Iloilo, Laguindingan and Bacolod. We hope to issue OPS upon approval of the board. We’re looking at Feb. 11 [for the] next board meeting,” Transportation Undersecretary for aviation Manuel Antonio Tamayo said.
These groups include Chelsea Logistics Holdings Corp. of businessman Dennis Uy that submitted an unsolicited proposal to operate and maintain the Bacolod-Silay Airport; the Aboitiz Group for Laguindingan Airport; and the Villar Group for Iloilo International Airport.
The government, through the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, earlier granted the original proponent status to Chelsea Logistics for the development, 30-year operation and maintenance of Davao International Airport worth P49 billion.
