Golden State, LA headline NBA in February

The world’s biggest basketball stars are set to converge once again for the annual NBA All-Star Weekend, which will air live from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA on ABS-CBN on Feb. 16 and on S+ A on Feb. 17 and Feb. 18, with the entire extravaganza also available to SKYCable subscribers via SKY on Demand.

The midseason classic fires off on Feb. 16 on “NBA SabaDos” on ABS-CBN at 11 a.m., with the Mountain Dew Ice Rising Stars challenge that will pit the best rookies and sophomores around the league in their very own battle. Expected to headline the event will be the Dallas Mavericks’ scintillating rookie Luka Doncic along with the Utah Jazz’ super soph, Donovan Mitchell.

On Feb. 17, it’s all fun and sideshows for the entire league in the State Farm All-Star Saturday that will feature the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, Three-Point Contest, and the much-anticipated Slam Dunk contest, airing LIVE on S+A starting at 9 a.m. Marquee names peppering the events such as brothers Stephen and Seth Curry, from the Golden State Warriors and Portland Trailblazers respectively, who will be figuring in a shootout in front of their hometown with legendary Dallas Mavericks sniper Dirk Nowitzki, alongside Steph’s teammate and fellow Splash Brother, Klay Thompson, to name a few.

The action reaches its climax on February 18 in the 68th All Star Game presented by KIA, which will air LIVE on S+A also at 9 a.m. Joining the top vote-getter from the West, Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James, in the starting five for Team LeBron will be Golden State’s Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, Houston’s “Beard” James Harden, and Oklahoma City’s Paul George. East’s top vote-getter Milwaukee’s “Greek Freak” Giannis Antetokounmpo will lead Team Giannis that features Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid, Boston’s Kyrie Irving, Toronto’s Kawhi Leonard, and Charlotte’s very own Kemba Walker. The rest of the participants in the NBA All-Star Weekend will be announced in the coming days.

Meanwhile, there is plenty of exciting basketball action that’s coming to S+A this February even before the All-Star break. The Los Angeles Lakers face the Golden State Warriors this Sunday (Feb. 3) at 9:30 a.m. while the Oklahoma City Thunder pay the Boston Celtics a visit on Monday (Feb. 4) at 8 am on S+A. Meanwhile, the Lakers visit their rival Celtics on Friday (Feb. 8) LIVE on S+A at 9 am.

On Feb. 9, two young rising squads face off on “NBA SabaDos” as the Denver Nuggets fly to the City of Brotherly Love to face the Philadelphia 76ers on ABS-CBN at 8:30 a.m. Sunday sees a titanic showdown between the OKC Thunder and the Houston Rockets on Feb.10, live on S+A at 9:30 a.m. The Warriors, the defending champion, will face the Miami Heat on Feb. 11 on S+A at 9:30 a.m., while the Charlotte Hornets visit the Orlando Magic on February 15 at 8 am, right before heading home for the All-Star Break.
