Kingad looked deadly against his Japanese counterpart, as he unleashed a varied striking attack and defended from Wada's grappling to punch himself a ticket into the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix.

For the local hero, the result was a byproduct of the sound game plan of coach Mark Sangiao and his discipline in committing to it.

“Our game plan was to score as much as I could in the striking department, while at the same time, avoid his takedowns,” said Kingad.

“We all know that he is very versatile that's why I was very cautious when executing my offense. Luckily, everything went perfectly and we are able to secure the victory.”

Kingad admitted to feeling Wada's power early on, but he was happy to see his opponent falling to his tendencies as the match goes on.

Going back to his game plan, it did not give him much trouble moving forward.

“His punches and kicks have tremendous power, but overall we were able to predict the things he presented inside the cage."

Kingad would have wanted to get the finish, but he will be taking the result, knowing that he already got the job done.

“He is a tough warrior and came prepared to fight, but a win is a win. What’s important is that I have secured my spot at the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix and I’m one step closer to my dream of becoming a World Champion."
