My Furry Bestie

This corner features pets of animal lovers every week. We hope new owners and those thinking of getting a pet will be encouraged to be responsible “furparents” through these features. We also hope more people will be moved to be kind to animals when they read about the great relationship that can be created between humans and animals.

Ian

IAN is a senior shih tzu, now at 14 years old, but he remains Daddy Emer’s fluffy baby, says Zeth Cardona-Alcantara.

His age makes him more adorable to his human family who wants to make him feel more loved and to take better care of him.

“He had an eye problem that was never resolved even after a couple of consultations. It just shrunk but it never became a problem for he still gets to play and run around, “ says Zeth.

Zeth adds: “They (Ian and Daddy Emer)  eat dinner together and Ian stays beside his dad making sure he has his share.”

“Ian loves following his hoomans wherever they go. He takes the driver seat and loves ‘windows down’ travels, “ Zeth shares.

“When night time comes, Dad Emer would call out and he would follow to the bedrooom where he eats up the space between Dad Emer and Mom Zeth, “ she adds.

“Like all furbabies, Ian loves being the kuya to his siblings Katrina, Honesto and Yolanda. A protective and lovable alpha dog, he is! By the way, burger is Ian's comfort food. We love him soooo dearly!!! “ Zeth says.

Shy

SHY makes owner Eric Bai AJ want to go home as soon as possible.

“Home is where your fur baby runs and greet you. So true! Ever since our bunso arrived, we (hubby, my teenage son and I) are even more eager to be home,“ she says

She adds, “With Shy around, it is like having a toddler again. Nakakatanggal pagod just to see our one-year old teacup Yorkshire Terrier bounce and wag her tail. She was named after her breed York-shy-re.  But, I guess it fits her personality too. She is very timid if with strangers.”

“She is very adorable. Whenever she wants our attention, she will just kalabit her cute little paws with a soft growl. If she wants to play, she will get her fave toy 'mini-me' and drag it to us. The best part is when we converse with her, she looks at us with those button eyes, as if she understands every word we are saying, “ she adds.

“We love her so much, against all odds, we will make sure that her needs will be well provided and that we will always be her family,” she says.
