The Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) presents a selection of films about stories and documentaries about fashion.
Explore the life and career of British fashion Lee Alexander McQueen in McQueen today. The story reveals how he started his career in his teenage years before gaining notice as designer for Givenchy to launching and overseeing his eponymous line and his untimely death in 2010.
Bill Cunningham New York, slated for Jan. 18 and 19, narrates the profile of the veteran New York City fashion photographer, Bill Cunningham. Bill had very strict ideas about the fashion world in general, and the documentary shows just how influential he was in that world.
Learn about China’s fashion and clothing industry with Useless, on Jan. 25 and 26. This documentary revolves around textile workers who are considered useless, as well as the contrasting relationship between people and their clothing according to their status in the society.
The screenings are free and open to the public.
This screening is curated by Olivia Lopez, a faculty from DLS-CSB Fashion Design and Merchandising (FDM) Program.
