The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration has warned overseas job applicants and recruitment agencies anew against using counterfeit documents in seeking jobs abroad after several Filipino workers were rejected by foreign employers for presenting fake medical certificates.
The POEA issued the advisory over fake documents submitted during the application process after the agency received complaints from foreign employers.
In a statement, the POEA claimed it had received reports concerning individuals roaming around the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and medical clinics accredited by the Department of Health who offer medical certificates and Ministry of Foreign Affairs without the need of undergoing medical examination in exchange for money.
The agency said the scheme involved the submission of fake employment certificates of job applicants to make it appear that the applicant has complied with work experience and training requirements of employers.
“Applicants and recruitment agencies found to be using and submitting fraudulent medical certificates shall be subjected to the corresponding administrative sanctions, as well as criminal liability, the POEA warned.
The POEA encourages prospective applicants to refrain from entertaining these individuals and immediately report their illegal activities to the Anti-Illegal Recruitment of the agency.
