Kidapawan City—The implementation of “Oplan Lambat Bitag” in Kabacan, North Cotabato this year has been successful, with 149 vehicles impounded for various violations.
Chief Insp. Realan Mamon, Kabacan town police chief, said most of the vehicles were impounded due to the absence of a license to drive by motorists and the lack or expired motor vehicle registration.
“The impounded vehicles consist of 120 motorcycles, 26 tricycles, and three multicabs,” Mamon said on Monday.
He said enforcement that started in January was primarily aimed at stopping incidents of carnapping of vehicles, mostly motorcycles, in the municipality.
The operation also included the implementation of other laws such as Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591 or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives.
