Motorists using the tollways to and from south of Metro Manila may pass through the NAIA Expressway (NAIAx), Skyway System, the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Star Tollway for free on the eves of Christmas and New Year.
Toll fees will not be collected from 10 p.m. of December 24, 2018 up to 6 a.m. the following day; and from 10 p.m. on December 31, 2018 up to 6 a.m. of January 1, 2019.
Skyway O&M Corp. (SOMCO), Manila Toll Expressway Systems, Inc. (MATES), and Star Tollway Corp. (STC), the respective operators of NAIAX/the Skyway System, SLEX and the Star Tollway, extend this toll-free privilege to the south tollway-using motorists in appreciation for their patronage. It is also their way of wishing them a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
To avoid delays and unnecessary inconvenience, the South Tollways operators advise the increased number of motorists traveling in and out of south Metro Manila during the Christmas holidays to properly plan their trip, keep their vehicles in excellent running condition, to be alert when driving and to strictly follow traffic and safety rules inside the tollways. At the Skyway, NAIAx, SLEX and Star Tollway, traffic is expected to further peak as early as December 21 (Friday) for Christmas and December 28 (Friday) for the New Year celebration; and on January 2, 2019 (Wednesday) for return trip to and from Metro Manila.
During this period, toll plazas with high traffic volume include NAIAx-Skyway Main Toll Plazas, Dona Soledad, Dr. A Santos,Alabang at the Skyway elevated section; and Nichols, C5, Merville, Sucat and Bicutan northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) exits and South Station. At SLEX, Filinvest NB Exit/SB Entry, Susana Heights, Carmona, Santa Rosa, Eton, Cabuyao Imterchange Calamba and Greenfields NB/SB exits are expected to be very busy. At Star Tollway, motorists may encounter long queues at toll plazas of Sto. Tomas, Tanauan, Malvar, Balete, Lipa, Ibaan and Batangas City. For faster tollway entry and exit, motorists are requested to prepare exact toll; or better yet, avail of the more convenient RFID payment service.
