Gauging his talents alongside his peers, Kyles Lao believes that he has already made a good account of himself in the two-day 2018 PBA Gatorade Draft Combine.
"It was nice to see the immense level of talent in this class and I think I was able to hold my own naman," the UP guard said after participating at the event held at the Gatorade Hoops Gym in Mandaluyong City.
Lao showed how he's one of the most intelligent prospects in this group, making the top five in the reaction tests as he got 83.33-percentage of hits during the biometrics phase of the Combine.
However, data could only speak so much on one's talent, and the former Xavier standout did show glimpses of what he could do once he played in the Combine’s mini-tournament.
The former UAAP Rookie of the Year didn't shy away from the spotlight in the scrimmages, helping his team finish runner-up to the JP Calvo and CJ Isit-led squad in the Finals.
Lao even uncorked 20 points in the semifinals against a team led by Robert Bolick, showing off his fearless slashing and stupendous sniping that hopefully, turned the heads of some of the coaches.
"Si Kyles Lao, maganda ang nilalaro niya since Wednesday," remarked San Miguel coach Leo Austria.
For his part, however, Lao is just hoping for the best ahead of the PBA Rookie Draft at Robinson's Midtown in Ermita, Manila.
"Tingin ko naman naipakita ko na lahat ng kaya ko. Sana makuha," he said.
