Following the arrest of former Bayan Muna Party-list Satur Ocampo, his wife Carolina Malay immediately came to defend her husband who he said was illegally detained.

Malay described her husband’s detention in Talaingod, Davao del Norte as “illegal from start to finish.”
“Of course, they cannot keep him indefinitely. Everything has been illegal from start to finish,” Malay told GMA News Online.
She said she is not aware when authorities would release her husband, who was originally expected to return home by Sunday.
Malay also shrugged off the charges filed against her husband and 18 others who joined the mission, saying lawyers were “coming to the rescue.”
But she said that she remains optimistic that it would not be difficult for her husband to spend time in detention after repeatedly being detained and even tortured in the past as a political prisoner during the Marcos regime.
“He’s used to it. We live a very simple life. Ang dami na naming dinaanan after Martial Law. He was a torture victim and he survived all of that,” she said.
