Senator Grace Poe’s father-in-law was taken to hospital after his car fell from the third level of an elevated parking space at the Promenade shopping mall in Greenhills, San Juan City on Sunday.
The police report identified the victim as Teodoro Paraiso Llamanzares, 83, a resident of Greenhills, San Juan City.
Security guards and parking attendants who witnessed the incident said Llamanzares, driving a black Toyota Innova, accelerated toward the barrier of the parking structure and fell to the ground at 9:45 am.
Llamanzares was the sole passenger of the vehicle.
Members of the San Juan Police Community Precinct and management of the mall quickly responded to the accident and Llamanzares was taken to Cardinal Santos Medical Center.
A statement released by Poe’s office said Llamanzares suffered a few fractured ribs and bruises and was expected to make speedy recovery.
“It’s a good thing he was wearing his seatbelt,” the statement said. “We want to thank everyone for their prayers and concern. We’re just thankful he was kept safe and no one else was injured.”
