Saying Tony Labrusca is hotter than hot is an understatement. It cannot be denied that everyone talks about him — ladies, men, whether gay or straight. It does help that he is easy on the eyes and his growing public, is delirious over the fact that of late, good roles come his way and Labrusca gives them not only buff and limb but a lot of heart.
After a scintillating performance as Badger, the young gymnast in Double Twisting, Double Back, which earned him his very first best actor nomination, his debut film ML, written and directed by Benedict Mique, is currently in cinemas as of this writing. The film was the second biggest box-office grosser in Cinemalaya last August.
“Of course, we all enjoy the attention that I am getting but I don’t like that to affect my values. I don’t want to focus on the showbiz side. I want to lead my life as a normal person,” begins Labrusca when asked about his new found fame.
He adds, “More than the attention, I just want people to be excited with what I am doing, that they see I am passionate about the craft, about acting, that I am willing to give an extra mile to give life to unconventional characters.”
Adding more dozes of sizzle to his career is Glorious. With 11 million views and its viewership continues to grow exponentially, the trailer of the made for television movie he co-stars with Angel Aquino is without a doubt highly anticipated and has received so much love.
Labrusca blurts out with a chuckle, “All of a sudden, ang daming obsessed sa dila ko. What is happening now, I think it is so funny.”
What is not funny is the intense sexual chemistry he shares with Aquino. He explains, “Well, with that, it is either you guys have it or you don’t. We allowed each other room to grow and be vulnerable. Prior to doing a love scene, there were, of course, discussions on how to do it. Since we are two people who are madly in love with each other, we played our characters as truthful as possible.”
How easy or difficult was it, to do an intimate scene with Angel? Labrusca’s quick reply, “It is always difficult because it was my first time to do intimate moments captured by a camera for a film. May shock factor sa una pero as I become more comfortable with my character and Angel’s, then madali na.”
The leading man of the moment and beyond concludes, “Ang daming naka-relate sa Glorious kasi totoo siya. Man, this is real life, it is happening, May-December affairs do exist. Hindi lang puro sexy scenes ang film, there is substance and a lot of love that definitely resonates and affects.”
ML is currently showing in cinemas nationwide. Glorious will stream online starting Nov.17 in IWantTV.
