Co-league leaders Magnolia and Alaska aim to strengthen their bid for a top-four finish when they face separate opponents in the homestretch of the elimination round of the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup.
Alaska (7-2) hits the floor first against NLEX (4-5) at 4:30 p.m. before Magnolia (7-2) collides with TNT KaTropa (4-5) at 7 p.m. at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City today.
With both teams already safely into the quarterfinals, the goal now for the Hotshots and the Aces is to make sure they stay in the top four.
Victories over their respective opponents will help them get there.
The top four teams at the end of the eliminations will enjoy a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarters.
At the moment, Magnolia, Alaska and Barangay Ginebra are in joint first place as they all tote identical records.
The Aces are gunning for their third straight win against the inconsistent Road Warriors.
In the other pairing, both the Hotshots and the Tropang Texters are looking to get back on track after losing their last assignments.
While the jockeying for position up top is intense, the same can be said for the teams in the middle.
The Road Warriors and the Tropang Texters are still in danger of falling out of the top eight.
Both teams are aiming to move a step closer to getting a ticket in the quarters by trying to top their higher-ranked foes.
