Manila Jockey Club Inc., the premier horse racing club in the country and one of Asia’s oldest, is hosting a Charity Racing Festival sponsored by the Philippine Racing Commission on Sunday (October 28, 2018) at the world-class San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite.
“Manila Jockey Club is honored to be working with the Philippine Racing Commission in its efforts to reach out to the less fortunate members of our society through exciting racing events that will benefit not only the local industry, but Philippine society as well,” said Jose Ramon Magboo, MJC Racing Manager.
Eleven races will be held for the benefit of the following organizations: Press Photographers of the Philippines, Buhay Isang Awit Foundation Inc., Dalampasigan Manila Bay, Movie Workers Welfare Foundation Inc. (MOWELFUND), and the Senate Spouses Foundation Inc.
Each race will have a guaranteed prize of P200,000.00 distributed from first to fourth placers (excluding the additional prizes being given by the Philippine Racing Commission on rating based handicapping system races).
Each organization will get the prize of the day of their corresponding charity races in support of their various social welfare projects.
This festival is part of the Philracom’s noble undertaking to support charitable initiatives that will alleviate struggling conditions of marginalized Filipinos.
The charity races will be handicapped in accordance with the Philracom’s Rating-Based Handicapping System, a result of the commission’s affiliation with the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities, whose mission is to promote good regulation and best practices on international matters pertaining to the sport.
Also slated for the day is the Philracom Sampaguita Stakes Race to be participated by top 4YO above local mares.
The 1750-meter race will have a whopping total prize of two million pesos. The winning breeder will also receive seventy thousand pesos.
The Manila Jockey Club was established in 1867. It is one of the oldest existing racing clubs in the Asia Pacific region. Manila Jockey Club Inc., as a business entity, was formally incorporated in 1937.
