Spotify users can now enable playback controls within the Google Maps app.

Music streaming service Spotify makes it easier to bring music on the go. While Google Maps has been a reliable navigation partner. But when you’re driving and trying to find your way using the Maps, it can be difficult, if not dangerous, to multi-task; switching from one app to another.

Spotify on Oct. 1 announced that its integration with Google Maps, allowing users to control what they’re listening to right on the Maps app. 

Users can now enable playback controls within the Maps navigation settings. 

There will be simple entry-point from the Google Maps app into Spotify, a small icon located on the sidebar, through which users will be able to browse songs, albums, and playlists. Meanwhile, there will be a banner on Spotify to help users return to their active navigation.    

Spotify’s integration with Google Maps follows the success of the music streaming service’s integration with Waze in 2017, which showed how navigation works in harmony with the music.

To use this new feature, Android and iOS users need to download the latest version of both Spotify and Google Maps.
