Petrogazz and Ateneo-Motolite try to get back on the winning track as they face winless rivals today in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference eliminations at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The Angels blew a 2-1 set lead and bowed to the Lady Eagles in five last week to drop to 3-3 while the latter received a stinging shutout loss from the unbeaten BanKo-Perlas side last weekend that snapped their big 2-0 start.

The two teams are tipped to regain their winning ways with the Lady Eagles taking on the Iriga-Navy Lady Oragons at 4 p.m. and the Angels colliding with the Adamson-Akari Lady Falcons in the 6 p.m. main game.

Adamson has dropped its first four games in the double round eliminations while Iriga lost all its five matches in the season-ending conference of the league organized by Sports Vision and backed by Mikasa and Asics.

Today’s twin bill also serves as appetizer for tomorrow’s (Sunday) big game pitting Creamline and Pocari-Air Force at 6 p.m., also at the San Juan venue.

The Alyssa Valdez-led Cool Smashers and the Lady Warriors, bannered by former MVP Myla Pablo, are both on a three-game roll, making their initial encounter a match to watch.

Still, focus will be on the Angels and the Lady Eagles with the former expected to bank on the likes of Jonah Sabete, Paneng Mercado and Cherry Nunag against Adamson’s Bernadette Flora, May Permentilla and Joria Pinar.

Ateneo, on the other hand, will pin its hopes again on its tall frontline composed of Maddie Madayag, Bea De Leon and Kat Tolentino with rookie Vanessa Gandler also ready to provide solid backup.”‹
